What is Banting Diet?

Dr.William Harvey prescribed this diet in 1862 for the first time. There are 2 versions of the diet. The second version that became popular in 2013 is different from the original one.

  • Restoration
  • Transformation
  • Preservation

How to Follow the Banting Diet:

A discussed before, there are four phases of this diet.

Observation:

It’s only for one week and during this phase, you don’t make any modifications. This phase is just to track your response against different foods.

Restoration:

This phase restores your gut health. This phase is longer than observation and lasts for 2- 12 weeks. Restoration phase duration depends on weight loss goals.

Transformation:

The transformation phase is the original phase of the banting diet. This phase takes your body in ketosis state where the body starts burning carbs instead of fats. There is no specific duration of the third phase. It lasts when you gain your desired results.

Preservation:

Once you reach your desired weight preservation phase starts and it lasts indefinitely. You need to follow the preservation phase as long as you want to maintain your weight.

Conclusion:

This diet has the potential to shed extra pounds. It is also very easy to follow as it allows you to eat plenty of healthy foods such as grass fed beef bone broth.
